Ndop is a traditional Bamiléké (Grassfields / West Cameroon) ritual fabric. This fabric is the most meaningful of the traditional Bamiléké fabric.
Ndop is made up of cotton strips sewn edge to edge with white geometric motifs on an indigo blue background. All these motifs - geometric shapes are representations of animals, stars, the sun, etc. and have symbolic value and make it the ritual garment of secret societies.
In West Cameroon, this fabric is used /worn for traditional ceremonies and funerals.
Nowadays, with modernism, ndop is also worn by "normal" people like you and me.
